After waiting and waiting what seemed like FOREVER, we finally received a letter from Julie in the mail on the 24th. We thought that she would have the opportunity to email on the 23rd, but NO email. I started to get antsy, although I knew she was just fine. I was looking forward to her story of being picked up at the airport. She didn't know that Gpa K and Uncle Mike were going to be there with her Aunt Katie. Pretty awesome! Thanks you guys!
Here is what her letter reads,
Hey Everyone!
First day at the MTC went great! I love being a missionary. I love being surrounded by other missionaries. I could NOT stop laughing and smiling when I first got here! The Spirit here is so strong. I've already seen miracles! From the moment I stepped off the plane there were miracles. After I picked up my baggage I got lost. haha....I was wandering around for about an hour until I finally decided to say a prayer to help me find Aunt Katie. As soon as I finished, I heard my name. I turned around to see the happiest sight I've ever seen--Grandpa K! He was walking toward me with a huge smile and open arms. Right then and there I felt my Savior's love and I know for a fact that prayer (with faith) works. I know that Heavenly Father will take care of me because I'm his missionary. I just need to be obedient. By oh my. There are so many rules to remember!! I'm grateful for the atonement so I can repent because I've already messed up a few times. Well right now I'm getting ready for bed and feeling really overwhelmed. I know for a fact that I need to rely on the Lord with all that I am. I knew missionary work would be hard, but...it's HARD.
Oh and I LOVE my companion!!!! Her name is Sister Gordon and she is everything I'm not...but it works. Which I'm so grateful! Ha ha. Without her, I'd be late to everything and lost off the time. She said today, "I'm a Vulcan, and you're my James Kirk". I laughed SO hard. I'm just a lot more open and expressive with my emotions.
I got to see Tyler, I mean, Elder Burbidge today right before I went to my room for bed. I got a picture with him. Today was great. There's so much work to do! I love you all! I miss you guys already. :) Heavenly Father really loves us SO much!!!
Love,
Sister Anderson
